A contemporary copy silver halfcrown of William III (1694 - 1702) dated to 1696. Diameter: 33.83mm; thickness: 1.71mm and weight: 9.9g. The coin is copper alloy with a silver wash on the surface to give the impression of it being the official issue. A number of these copies are known, often without retaining the silver coating. This example is the right size but is lighter than official issues, a trait often seen on forgeries of the period. See Spink (2011 edition) numbers 3475 - 3496, p 360 - 363, for examples of silver halfcrowns.
