A Post Medieval silver sixpence re-used as a 'love token' dating to c.1660-1760. Purposefully abraded and bent on opposite sides to form a shallow S- shaped profile. The obverse is entirely illegible, but the reverse still displays a part of the cruciform of crowned shields enabling dating of the coin. No marks or letters present, so possibly uncompleted. A complete Chinese copper alloy 'cash' or qian coin of Daoguang, c. AD 1821 - 1850. Description: This is a 1-cash coin of Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1644 - 1911), minted at the Board of Works in Beijing. Obverse: DAOGUANG TONG BAO (Daoguang Circulating Treasure) Reverse: BOO YUWAN (Board of Works Mint, Treasure) Discussion: The Board of Works was one of the two principal mints in Beijing, where the majority of coins were minted. Qing dynasty coins are the most common Chinese coins found in Britain.
