An early Post Medieval hammered sixpence of Elizabeth I (AD 1558 - 1603). The coin is from the 7th issue dated AD 1602. Surface of the obverse quite worn, but  just possible to see the Crown on the head of the Bust. The reverse has a square-topped shield on long cross fourch'ee, with date 1602 above. A Roman copper-alloy nummus, contemporary copy of the House of Constantine, dating to the period c.AD 355-361 (Reece period 18). Probably FEL TEMP REPARATIO reverse type depicting a soldier spearing a fallen horseman. Unclear mint prototype. Both obverse and reverse types are struck off-centre. The legends and mintmark are garbled and probably simple vertical strokes rather than proper letters, while the reverse die appears to be in reverse with horse falling to the right rather than left. Dimensions : Diameter 11.0 mm, thickness 1.3 mm, and weight 0.7 gm. Die Axis 12 o'clock.
