Obverse description: Diademed bust facing right, cross held in hand before face, all within pellet outer circle, struck off centre. Reverse description: Serpent with thin clockwise segmented body enclosing and terminating in a wolf head, with narrow wreath trails at ends of body.

A silver sceatta, Series E, variety A. One side has the 'porcupine design, with three bars enclosed. The other has TOTII enclosed in a square formed of dots, with perhaps crosses at each face above the sides of the square. These are of Continental origin, probably Frisia and date to c. AD 695-740
Dimensions: Diameter 10.88mm, and 1.57mm thick, it weighs 0.92g

The coin shows green copper corrosion products on parts of its surface, and in places the silver wash is damaged showing a copper-alloy core beneath. Such contemporary imitations are not uncommon for this type.
