A replica of Cnut of Northumbria (c. 900 - 905). This coin was found in an area of known Viking Age re-enactments and was examined by the FLO and Dr John Naylor, and was found to be a modern reproduction on the following grounds,
Although the coin has inscriptions and obverse/reverse designs which are faithful to the originals, there are problems when you examine the coin closely:
the combination of obverse (EC-1ii) and reverse (CR-G) type seen on this coin isn't seen in the Cuerdale hoard (which is a large sample)
the letter forms are quite scruffy…

Complete copper alloy Russian two kopeks coin, AD 1798. Minted in Ekaterinburg, Russia during the reign of Emperor Paul I/Pavel I (1796-1801).
The coin is milled with a threadlike edge. The obverse features the crowned monogram of Pavel I. The reverse features the denomination above a bisecting line, and the date and mint mark below. The mint mark is E.M. Together, the lettering in Cyrillic reads '2.КОПЕЙКИ.1798.E. М.'.
The coin is corroded, with some loss of detail to both faces.

The artefact is a sub-circular disc in two parts, with a recent break along one edge. Both faces are heavily worn and pitted, and no decoration can be identified. The size and thickness are broadly consistent with this being a penny or farthing of medieval or post-medieval date.

A silver Roman 'Legionary' denarius of Mark Antony (BC 42-30) dating to 32-31 BC (Reece Period 1).
The obverse is very worn but the outline of a boat can be discerned although the legend is illegible. The reverse legend is also illegible but the central image of the aquila standard and one other standard are visible.
These coins were struck by Mark Antony between 32-31 BC in travelling mints for use by his fleets in the lead up to the Battle of Actium. Similar examples on the PAS database include: YORYM-456CA5, BH-3B42E9, WMID-F2D9BB.

Incomplete copper alloy sestertius of Commodus dated to AD 181.
Obverse features the laureate bust of Commodus. The bust is severely worn, but it is possible to identify some of the hair curls and the tassle at the back of the laureate.
Reverse features the worn figure of a left facing Annona holding ears of corn in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left hand.
The coin has an uneven flan suggesting it has been clipped and on both faces the legends have worn away.

Obverse features central bust of Edward I with plain banded crown with central lis, pearl and trifoliate side-fleurs within beaded circle. The coin displays little wear and the legend reads 'EDW REX ANGL DNS HYB'. The 'N' is in lombardic form. Initial mark is a cross pattee.
The reverse features a long cross dividing a beaded circle with three pellets in the divided segments. The legend reads 'CIVI TAS LON DON'. The 'N' is in Roman form.

A copper alloy disc, with triangular punch marks on one side. The reverse is flat. The punch marks are irregularly spaced, but all have roughly the same angle and shape, indicating that they were made with the same tool, in quick succession. There is a small tear, reaching about a quarter of the way to the centre from one edge. The disc is 30.1 mm in diameter and 1.66 mm thick. It weighs 9.12 g.
Georgian Halfpenny, re-used as a token or to test a punch. It may also be a game piece, with the punch marks used to distinguish it from other pieces.

There are two un-pelleted curls on the L and two or three on the R. Based on this the coin belongs to Richard I; North class 3ab2 or class 4a. The busts on these coins can be either large, small, wide or thin. Date is c.1190-1200. Moneyer and mint are WILLELM of London, though WILLELM can also be spelt as WILLEM on these coins due to the space taken up by the enlarged letter N and A.

A silver siege coin struck at Newark dated to 1645 to 1646. It is a lozenge shape and weighs 5.13g; length 34.94mm; width 31.10mm.
A post-medieval silver 'siege piece' struck at Newark. The coin is lozenge shaped. The obverse depicts a crown flanked from left to right by C and R. The crown has eight pellets on the left arch and nine on the right. Due to wear it is possible that some pellets cannot be seen. Below the crown are the numerals XII, which denotes the denomination as a shilling. All these are enclosed by an off-centred lozenge perimeter of pellets.
