A silver penny of King Edgar, moneyer Grind, struck at Lincoln circa AD 973. The type is Edgar's 'Reform Portait' coinage. Ref: J.J. North, no. 752. The obverse appears to be from the same die as an example recorded on the Early Medieval Coin Corpus, no. 1004.0777, part of the Royal Collection, Copenhagen. The type is well known, and the moneyer Grind is known at Lincoln from the following two reigns as well, but the Copenhagen coin is the only recorded example of a coin in his name from Edgar's reform type (c. 973-75). A late Anglo-Saxon silver coin: an expanding cross type penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), a north east variety dating from 1050 - 1053 probably. Part of the rim of the flan is missing, between one o'clock and four o'clock on the obverse. It is 18.1mm in diameter and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 0.94gm. It was probably struck at Lincoln by Colgrim. See North number 821 for comparison.

A penny of Canute struck by the moneyer Sweartbrand of Lincoln. It is a short cross type minted between 1030-1035/6. The obverse bears the legend +CNUT RECX and shows a bust of the king, wearing a diadem and holding a sceptre whilst looking left. The reverse reads +SPEARTEBR[A]ND L and shows a short cross, voided. This inscription appears to be a variant of the normal forms of the moneyer’s name Sweartbrand or Swertebrand. It weighs 1.02g and has a die axis of 12. North, J. J. 1980.
