An Iron Age early uninscribed gold stater, probably of the Regini and Rudd's 'Sills Insular CF' type (ABC 515), dating to 65-45 BC. The coin also has similarities however with ABC 1716, an uninscribed gold stater of the Corieltavi (Rudd's 'North East Coast' type). The main difference to the reverse being no charioteer's arms and a pellet below the belly instead of the crescent on this example from Denmead. In terms of distribution, an identification as a 'Sills Insular' variation is more likely. Reference: Spink 20A, Sills 457-459, ABC 515 and 1716.
