Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Published
An incomplete silver coin, possibly ancient although a more recent date cannot be ruled out entirely. Half of the coin is missing due to possibly recent breaks, while both surfaces are illegible, with pitting and bubbling that appear to be as a result of exposure to heat or fire. This coin may be as early as Roman in date, although a much later Post-Medieval date is equally plausible.

A sub-circular white-metal disc of uncertain age and function, measuring 11.8mm in diameter and weighing 0.97g. Both faces appear mutilated and it is impossible to discern an intentional design on either. The object is not concave/ convex which suggests it is not an Iron Age coin, and the metal has a dull grey appearance, not concurrent with ancient silver.
