A complete Scottish silver penny of Alexander III dating to AD c.1280, second coinage. ALEXANDER DEI GRA obverse depicting a crowned bust facing left and holding a sceptre. REX SCOTORVM reverse depicting a solid long cross with seven point stars in two opposing quarters and two six point mullets in the other two quarters. Possibly class E (Spink 5056) or class D (Spink 5057). Possibly the mint of Perth (26 points on the stars and mullets).

From the side, the edge of the coin is of irregular thickness ranging from 0.3 - 0.9mm thick.
