White metal, possibly lead alloy or silver, possible coin. Oval flan with no discernible design on either side, though both surfaces have a pelleted appearance overall. Possibilities may range from a copy radiate or nummus of Roman date, through to a modern forgery of an Anglo-Saxon or Celtic coin. Suggested date: Unknown, 260-2000. Cliff Reeves kindly examined this coin, opining it is unlikely to be Roman. One edge is chipped, revealing grey metal. Probably heavily cleaned. Diameter: 11.7mm, Weight: 0.90gms.

An unidentified coin or token. The piece, which resembles an Iron Age coin, is sub-rectangular and has a dished flan. Apart from a possible beaded border on one side, no discernable surface details remain. The metal has the appearance of tarnished silver, but there may be a lead content. One surface displays evidence for a possible attempted piercing. Diameter: 20.9mm; thickness: 4.7mm; weight: 8.2g.

White metal possible coin. A flat flan bearing faint trace of a bust right, otherwise featureless. Possibly clipped with the removal of legends; edges appear neatly cut. The overall impression is that this may not actually be a coin. It is possible this object may relate to a rash of forgeries reported from various sites detected by this club over the years, though those forgeries are usually of different style and construction, and are thought to come from a 'mint' in the Grimsby area. A silver Roman coin; a Denarius, possibly a modern replica of Antoninus Pius, 138-161AD. It has a diameter of 18.23mm, thickness 2.11mm, weight 2.15g. The surface of the coin is pitted and the obverse legend looks suspicious. The metal does not feel like silver - it is possibly a white metal coating over a base metal core. The coin is copying a denarius of Antoninus Pius with naked Genius or Bonus Eventus on the reverse, number 4069 in Sear Volume II. The coin is scratched and chipped.

This coin purports to be a Roman radiate (Antoninianus) of Gallienus (AD253-268) probably made from billon. The obverse shows the radiate draped cuirassed bust right. The reverse is indistinct but is most likely to be of Concordia standing left, holding patera and cornucopiae. In any event, the coin is in very poor condition with an eroded and split rim. The surface has degraded with various corrosive elements and the coin is underweight for its type. The quality of the die is also poor, in all; it is most probably a contemporary copy.
