Lead alloy possible coin forgery. A flat pellet of solidified and inflexible lead melt, flat on one side but with a concave oval impression suggesting a grid-like pattern; patinated. This might be a fragment of debris from the casting of lead which has come into contact with textile while still fluid, which could only be dated to between the Roman and Post-Medieval periods. However, the northern part of Lincolnshire has also seen the frequent discovery of modern lead alloy forgeries intended to resemble Iron Age and Early Medieval coins.
