A clipped Medieval silver voided short cross penny of Henry III (AD 1216-1272), Possibly Class 7a, minted by Roger in Canterbury,  dating to c. 1217-1222.  North 978  Obverse legend    hENRICV[S REX], Crowned bust facing, pellet crown with crescent hair on side of head.  Reverse: Voided short cross with quatrefoil of pellets in each quadrant. Legend +RO'G[ER ONC] ANT Die axis 11 o'clock

Standard Type 'F' Obverse description: Facing bare-shouldered bust, spade shaped face with pointed chin entirely clear of shoulders, double arched crown, all within an eight-arched tressure.Obverse inscription mostly missing and clipped but would have been:[ HENRICUC EI GRACIA REX ANGLIE ET FRANC DNS IBAR.].Reverse description: long cross, three pellets in each angle, inscription in two orders, outermost lost. Initial mark Cross Fitchee (1485-90).. Reverse inscription: CIVI/TAS/CAN/TOR
