A worn, complete post medieval silver quart d'ecu (quarter ecu) of Henri IV of France (AD 1589-1610) dated 1590. Mint of Angers (mint letter F below shield). The flan is worn and irregular.  Obverse: Fleuretty Cross. Legend: + HENRICVS IIII D G FRAN ET NAVA RX 1590 Reverse: Crowned shield of France with denomination marks (II - II) either side. Privy and mint marks below shield. Legend:  :SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTVM. Measurements: diameter 30.08mm, weight 8.36g. Silver quarter ecu of Louis XIII (1610-1643) or Louis XIV (1643-1715) or Quart d'écu à la mèche courte (quarter ecu with short locks) with the young bust facing right on the obverse, dating from c.1642-1660 but the coin is too worn to make out the legends or any detail on the reverse.

A silver quart d'ecu (quarter ecu) of Henri IV of France (AD 1589-1610) dated 1605. The coin is worn around the mint and privy marks below the shield on the reverse, however it is likely that the mint if Bordeaux (mint leter K). These are not common coins and this appears to be the first of its type recorded on this database.
