An extremely worn copper alloy ancient greek or Hellenistic coin, possibly an Obol or Chalkon of the Ptolomeic dynasty of Egypt. The obverse depicts the bearded head of Zeus Ammon, right. The reverse is entirely illegible and has a small blob of red sealing wax, suggesting the coin was mounted to a board for display. The patina is highly polished from handling and lacks evidence for corrosion. This together with the evidence of mounting suggests a modern "collector's loss", possibly a wartime souvenir brought back from Egypt.
