A very worn and corroded Roman copper-alloy coin: probably a sestertius of 2nd-century date, possibly Antoninus Pius
This coin has been pierced at a later date, probably for jewellery. The piercing respects the obverse bust and probably the reverse design too, although this latter is difficult to discern. The cusping around the perforation to create semicircular shoulders is presumed to be deliberate.
