A complete silver denarius of Hadrian (AD 117 - 138) dating to AD117 (Reece Period 6). P M TR P COS DES II  reverse type depicting Fortuna Redux seated left, veiled and robed, holding rudder on a globe in right hand and cornucopiae in left. Probably RIC II, Part 3, Hadrian, 81-83. Fortunae redux - Fortune that brings back the Emperor in safety.  The Romans were accustomed to render thanks, and perform sacrifices, to Fortuna Redux whilst celebrating the return of the reigning prince from his visit to distant provinces. This applied to Hadrian amongst others.
