A worn silver sixpence of William III dating from 1695 - 1702. It has been bent into an S shape and both faces have been rubbed almost smooth (presumably repurposed as a love token or luck piece) but enough detail remains to establish the monarch from the portrait on the obverse, and coat of arms on the reverse.

Reverse: Stylised cockerel right with snake in mouth, above stylised head.
The coin is 16.4mm in diameter and weighs 2.07 grams.
ABC notes: Copied from Gaulish types, notably DT509 and 511 and are the only bronze coins issued in the Southern region and feature an anthropomorphic cockerel, a genre of grotesque fantasy beasts known as grylloi which date to the 5th century BC.
