An Iron Age Southern Region / Regini tribe uninscribed bronze unit of 'Chichester Cock' type (cf. ABC 737; BMC 657-59),(BC 60-40). Obverse: Helmeted head right Reverse: Stylised cockerel right with snake in mouth, above stylised head. The coin is 16.4mm in diameter and weighs 2.07 grams. ABC notes: Copied from Gaulish types, notably DT509 and 511 and are the only bronze coins issued in the Southern region and feature an anthropomorphic cockerel, a genre of grotesque fantasy beasts known as grylloi which date to the 5th century BC.
