A cut or broken half of a denarius of Carausius (AD 286-93) (Reece Period 14). The reverse is unclear but appears to feature the leg of a horse or another animal left. It could be an ADVENTVS AVG type with emperor riding left, or possibly a VIRTVS AVG or similar type with a lion left. The reverse legend is unclear. Mintmark is R[SR].

This coin is extremely worn leaving no detail discernible except the faint impression of a trifoliate crown. Possibly a double saltire appears as the initial mark. It measures 12.8 x 7.6mm and weighs 0.27g.

The coin is broken roughly in half, above the long cross at the centre. The uneven off-centre break, and slight bending at the edge, suggest that the coin was broken rather than cut.

Obverse: Crowned head facing. Bifoliate crown, small indistinct jewels. Bushy hair, well-formed eyes. Drapery appears as wedges. Legend: [..]WARRANGLDNS[HyB]. Coin is clipped so that part of lettering and initial mark is at least partially missing.
Reverse: Long cross with three pellets in each quarter. Legend: CIVI/TAS/LDN/DON. The O of London appears as a D.
