An early medieval silver penny of Æthelred II.
The coin is a First Hand type with obverse showing diademed bust right and the legend +ÆÐELRED REX ANG.
The reverse shows the hand of providence issuing from clouds with AW to the sides and the legend + ÐEODGILD MO LIND (Theodgeld moneyer Lincoln mint). North 766.
The coin is complete but has a small area of the flan edge rolled over.
The coin is recorded on the Early Medieval Corpus as EMC number : 2023.0293
