A silver hammered half-crown of Charles I c. 1625 - 1649 AD. The coin is struck on an irregular flan and has been in part, clipped. There are signs of a double strike on the obverse and the legend is poorly struck. The obverse has the Group IV, fourth horseman, type 4 (1641 - 1643 AD), with the foreshortened horse, depicting Charles I, crowned an holding a sword upright, mounted on horse walking left, no ground below horse. A cloak flows behind the King's shoulder. The reverse with oval garnished shield. mm triangle in circle. The surface has a pale grey patina with dark discoloration…
