Broad period: ROMAN

A copper-alloy nummus, cut down from a larger issue, of Magnentius or Decentius dating to the period AD 350-353 (Reece Period 18). GLORIA ROMANORVM reverse type depicting soldier on horseback riding down a captive right. Mint uncertain.
Magnentius and Decentius were usurpers under whom larger than normal coins were issued. In 354, Contantius II outlawed these larger coins, probably at least in part to damn the memory of the unsuccessful usurpers.
