Although the obverse legend is slightly unclear due to surface wear, enough detail remains to positively identify this coin. This coin is slightly lighter in weight than that suggested in RIC VIII for the First Series of the Second Group; however, this may be due to wear and corrosion. Reece period 15. Cf. A cooper alloy Roman nummus of Constans. Minted in either Lyon or Aquileia between AD 348-350. Obverse depicts a rosette-diademed draped and cuirassed bust, facing left. Obverse legend reads: DN CONSTA-NS PF AVG. Reverse type: FEL TEMP REPARATIO, depicting a helmeted soldier holding an upward-facing spear left, leading a captive from hut with palm tree overhead from left. The butt of the spear is positioned between their two bodies. This coin is in excellent condition, except that it is missing a small segment of the coin pertaining to the mint mark.
