The first striking was a Gloria Exercitus issue of 330-335, Reece period 17, over-struck with a fallen horseman issue of 355-361, Reece period 18; overall both are in fine condition. The detail of the juxtaposition may suggest a mildly subversive sport on the part of a mint worker. Evidence for a Roman with a sense of humour commends this coin as a find of note. In 354, Contantius II outlawed these larger coins, probably at least in part to damn the memory of the unsuccessful usurper.
