A complete but clipped early medieval silver denier of the Merovingian Franks dating to c.AD700-50, mint of Marseille (MEC1, no 577). Ref: Grierson and Blackburn 1986: 149; cf. Chambouillet 1890: nos 107-18 (pl.VI-VII).
Rev: Anchor cross with the roman nummerals V, II either side of the shank.
