Unusually light, almost 'plasticy' shilling or halfcrown of Charles I or Charles II, probably a contemporary forgery. Mint mark not visible. A local expert in Charles I coins, Bob Lyall, argues that, "at 6.12 grams, it is of full weight for a Charles shilling (some provincial emergency mints are lightweight) and for a period of just a few weeks in 1626 the Tower struck light weight coins with mm cross on steps whereby a shilling weighed around 5.1 grams.
