PONT MAX reverse depicting Ceres standing left, with two corn ears and a cornucopiae. Mint of Rome. RIC I (2nd ed.), p. 261, no. 20var. This is a denarius variant of the listed aureus type in RIC. Two examples of this type are known in the British Museum: 1867,0101.1628 and 2005,0834.1, with another three recorded by the PAS: BH-F5BD67, WMID-BE1BF1, and YORYM-6E270D. A worn silver plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Nero dating to AD 65-65 (Reece period 3). AVGVSTVS GERMANICV[S] reverse, depicting Nero, radiate, togate, standing front, left knee slightly bent, holding branch in right hand and Victory on globe in left. The plating has worn away on the reverse figure and the reverse depiction and legend are slightly blundered. Cf. RIC I Nero 47.
