A damaged and very worn/corroded post medieval silver penny, probably a 'sovereign' type penny (North 1808-14) of Henry VIII (1509-47), second coinage (1526-44), mint uncertain. Ref: North 1991: 112.
The coin is in very poor condition, badly chipped around the edge with corrosion and wear evident on both sides. A small part of the inscription can be read, [ ]G RO[ ], indicating the full inscription read (H/E) D G ROSA SI(N)E SPI(N)A, and just above what appears to be a pair of feet and bottom of a robe, the two suggesting the identification above.
