Inscription: [JACOBV]SD'G'.A(NG S)COFR[ET.HI]B REX. Reverse: Crowned harp Inscription:EX[VRG](AT) DEVS DI[SSIP]ENTVR IN[I](MI)CI. Die axis: 9 o'clock. Mint mark: Bell Mint name: Tower mint London. Very worn or fair condition but 'crinkled' and distorted by agricultural machinery. Dark silver colour with grey tarnish over half the coin, especially the obverse. A silver sixpence of James I of England. It has possibly been folded, perhaps as a love token, which practice seems to have been maintained over a long period of time. The obverse face is very worn, and the legend largely illegible. The reverse carries a shield and the legend reads QVAE_______NEMO SEPARET, as well as the date 1605 Dimensions: 2.4mm diameter and weighs 2.67g. Thanks to the finder for the photographs

A half cut post medieval silver coin, possibly a silver sixpence of Edward VI AD 1547-53 or Elizabeth I. The coin has a hole at 2 o''clock of the reverse and is broken at 6 o'clock of the reverse. A Post Medieval silver sixpence of an uncertain ruler (c. AD 1558-1714). The coin has been completely worn on both the obverse and reverse leaving no trace of any distinguishing features. The coin has been lightly bent into an 'S' shape thus suggesting it's possible use as a charm or token.  Coins with a double bend are not uncommon finds but their significance is not fully understood. According to Dr Kevin Leahy such 'Love tokens' were made using coins dating from the time of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) to the reign of Ann (1702-1714…
