Roman silver Denarius of Elagabalus. The reverse is a depiction of Felicity standing left. Elagablus' reign was notorious for religious fanaticism, cruelty, bloodshed, and general excess and when Elagabalus and his mother were murdered in 222 many people in the Roman Empire were relieved. Their bodies were dragged through the streets of Rome and were thrown into the river Tiber (Sear 1981, page 211).

?denarius forgery - metal looks like copper alloy, coin details probably a denarius and the emperor (perhaps Elagabalus, though legend fragment could be Severus or Caracalla) apparently has a Vesta reverse (normally imperial ladies at this date). The margins of the coin are corroded, and there is some iron stained concretion on the surfaces.
