A Roman coin; a silver denarius of Elgabalus minted in Rome in AD 218 - 222.
Circumstance of Discovery
On 9th September 2008 Louise Snow of Archaeological Services, deposited at the Oriental Museum, University of Durham, a site archive of 41 coins which had been recovered by archaeologists during the course of excavations conducted at Bramham, West Yorkshire (site code BTW 07). Upon subsequent examination, three coins from a single archaeological context stood out as representing a coherent assemblage. These coins were all found to be Roman silver denarii of …
