[...]COS[...], Mars advancing right with trophy over left shoulder and transverse spear.  Diameter: 16.38mm, weight: 1.62g. Approximately the right-hand third of the coin (when looking at the obverse) is missing in a clean, vertical break.

RIC Vol 4, p.113, 167 The coin has a large chip below the bust between 8 and 5 o'clock and a smaller chip at 12 o'clock.

Roman silver contemporary cast copy of a denarius of Septimus Severus (193-211), reverse type unclear, AD193-201. Large numbers of coin moulds for producing cast copys of later 2nd and 3rd century denarii have been found in the saltern sites around Burtle and it is possible, although in no way certain, that this is a product of that local industry.
