A silver Roman coin; part of a broken contemporary copy of a denarius probably of Septimus Severus (193 – 211 AD), with Hercules (probably) on the reverse. The coin is 16.3mm long, 11.6mm wide and 2.39mm thick. It weighs 1.78g. There is copper corrosion where the coin has broken, so it is probably a contemporary copy.

The reverse depicts a female figure, seated right on a chair with ornate legs, holding a sceptre and olive branch, a single line below. The mint Lyon. Reference: RIC I, number 30. The coin is 19.3mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 3.5gm. It should be noted that modern reproductions of this coin exist and the bumpy surface of the field may suggest that this coin is a copy.
