A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Commodus (AD 177 - 192) dating from about AD 185 (Reece Period 9), reverse depicting (probably) Jupiter standing left holding a thunderbolt (or Victory perhaps) and spear. Mint of Rome probably. The legends are the same as Sear Volume II number 5676, but Jupiter is depicted standing, not seated. The coin is 17.33mm diameter and 1.75mm thick. 2.25g.
