A silver Roman coin; a denarius of the Republic (269BC - 30BC), Series 20 (119BC - 110BC). The moneyer signed the coin "Q METE" standing for Q Metellus. He is not easy to identify, but is believed to be a junior member of the Metelli family who were at the height of their power at the time. The coin is marked with an asterix; a monogram of XVI. This was added to denarii coins to show that they were worth 16 Asses. Previously they had been worth only 10 Asses. A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Hadrian (117 - 138), second consulship (118 - 119). The coin is in excellent condition and is hardly worn, though it has a few chips in the edge of the flan. Pax is shown on the reverse. The coin has a diameter of 19.5mm. The coin is sealed in a coin envelope so it's thickness and weight cannot be ascertained. For reference see Roman Imperial Coinage Volume II, number 44a.

A Roman coin; a silver denarius of Trajan (98 - 117), dating from AD104 - 111. The coin has a diameter of 19mm and is 1mm thick. It weighs 2.86g and was probably minted in Rome. There are three standards on the reverse. The coin is hardly worn and is in very good condition. For reference Roman Imperial Coinage Volume II, number 228. This object was recorded from a photograph and details kindly provided by the finders.
