A Roman silver coin: a contemporary plated copy of a denarius of Vespasian (AD69-79), COS ITER TR POT reverse type showing Pax seated. The core is copper alloy, plated with silver, some of which has now flaked away to reveal the inner metal. The obverse is central, but the reverse is struck somewhat off centre. It is 18.9mm in diameter and 2.2mm thick. It weighs 2.31gm. Compare Sear Volume II number 2285.

There is a small chip from the flan at six o'clock on the obverse. It is 17.2mm in diameter and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 2.55gm. It is possible that the coin is a contemporary plated copy. Compare Sear Volume II number 6322 for the reverse legend and 6323 for the reverse design.
