Minerva on rostrum column reverse. Mint of Rome. RIC II, Part 1 (second edition) Domitian 771. The coin is 19.2mm in diameter and 2mm thick. It weighs 3.17g. Compare http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.2_1(2).dom.771.This coin, along with SWYOR-689D0D, was declared as Treasure (2022 T786).
These coins are types which are likely to have circulated together in the 1st century AD and been subsequently hoarded. A third silver coin, a denarius of Nero (YORYM-1AA93D) was also found in the same area – all three being within 50m of one another – and may have been associated with the group though was a single find at time of discovery and therefore fell outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.
Conclusion:
In terms of age and as the find contains more than two precious metal coins it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
