A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Hadrian (117 – 138), COS III (119 – 122). The reverse is probably Jupiter holding a thunderbolt and a sceptre. The coin has a diameter of 19.9mm and is 1.9mm thick. It weighs 2.8g and is in good condition. It was minted in Rome. For reference see Roman Imperial Coinage II, number 64.

A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Clodius Albinus as Caesar under Septimius Severus (193 – 195), issued in Rome in AD 195. The coin has a diameter of 18.1mm and is 2.23mm thick. It weighs 2.47g. Aesculapius is depicted on the reverse, feeding a snake which coils up around a staff at his side. For reference see Sear’s “Roman Coins and their Values” Volume II, number 6140 or RIC 2.

A fragment of a Roman coin; a contemporary plated copy of a Denarius probably of Titus as Caesar. Seated figure facing right on the reverse, possibly Titus. It has a diameter of 10.5mm with a thickness of 2.2mm, a length of 9.1mm with a width of 4.1mm and it weighs 1.02g. For reference compare Sear's "Roman coins and their values", volume 1, number 2447. The coin probably dates from AD 73.

A copper alloy Roman coin; probably a contemporary copy of a denarius of Otho (Jan to April AD 69), SECVRITAS type, (Feb - Mar AD 69). It was minted in Rome. It weighs 3.1g. For reference see Sear (2000) Roman Coins and Their Values Volume 1, page 417, number 2163. This is not a commonly found coin though this seems to be a copper alloy copy of the coin which should be silver. The surface of the coin is pitted and corroded, but may have originally been plated.
