A silver plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Nero (AD 54-68), dating to AD 54 (Reece Period 3). Wreath reverse type. Copying mint of Rome.
The reverse is not the correct type for this coin which should be an oak leaf wreath enclosing the letters EXSC, with an inscription around the outside. This coin instead has a wreath enclosing a letter A[...] with a ring of pellets around the outside and no outer inscription. It is similar to some reverses of Claudius.

Roman coin; struck silver denarius of Nero dating to AD 67-68. Jupiter reverse. Sear notes that this reverse is “Referring, in all probability, to Nero’s deliverance from the conspiracy of C. Calpurnius Piso in AD 65”.
Obv. Laureate head of emperor right. Note that in this example the ribbons of the laurel extend over the emperor’s neck, which is unusual.
