A Roman contemporary silver plated forgery (fourrée) of a denarius of Tiberius (AD 14-37) (Reece Period 1). On the obverse, the silver plating is missing from most of the bust. The legend, in retrograde, is still legible: TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS. The reverse is missing most of the silver plating. The underlying copper-alloy core is severely corroded making identification to one of the two possible reverse types (Quadriga, or Livia as Pax) impossible.
