A worn silver Roman denarius of Augustus as Octavian, mint, dating to c.32-29 BC. Struck at an uncertain Italian mint, Reece period 1. Obv.: No legend; Bare-headed right, with crescent-shaped 'banker's' mark right in the field. Rev.: [CAESA]R [DI]VI [F]; Venus standing right, leaning left on column with shield at base, holding helmet in right hand and transverse sceptre in left. RIC I, p. 59, cf. no. 250a; BMC I, pl. 14, cf. no. 16; RSC1547. Measurements: 18.65mm in diameter, 1.71mm thick and 3.46g in weight.
