The coin measures 18mm in diameter, is 2.3mm thick and weighs 2.9g. It is heavily worn.

A corroded and incomplete 3rd-century, possibly irregular, base silver Roman denarius of Caracalla, 'VIRTVS AVGG', Rome mint (c. 201 - c. 206 AD; cf. R.I.C. 149; Reece issue period ).
This coin has lost around a seventh of its flan in a curved circumferential loss. The reverse has suffered from corrosion while the obverse remains crisp.
