A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Octavian as Augustus, dating from 27 BC – 14 AD, probably Lugdunum mint struck in about 9 BC (reece Period 1)
Obverse: Laureate head of Augustus right, [A]VGVSTV[S] – [DIVI]·F [retrograde].
Reverse: Caius Caesar on horse right, holding reins, sword and shield; behind, eagle between two standards, C·CAES above and in exergue, AVGVS F.

A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Tiberius dating from AD 14 - 37 (Reece period 1) PONTIF MAXIM reverse type depicting Livia as PAX, seated right on a chair with plain legs, holding olive branch and long sceptre. Mint of Lugdunum. Compare RIC I (second edition) Tiberius 26. The coin is 18.1mm in diameter and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 3.5g.

A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Tiberius dating from AD 14 - 37 (Reece period 1), the reverse legend PONTIF MAXIM (retrograde). The reverse depicts a female figure, seated right on a chair with ornate legs, holding a sceptre and olive branch, a single line below. The mint Lyon. Reference: RIC I, number 30.
The coin is 19.3mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 3.5gm. It should be noted that modern reproductions of this coin exist and the bumpy surface of the field may suggest that this coin is a copy.

A silver plated copper alloy contemporary copy of a silver denarius of Augustus dating to the period 2 BC to AD 9 (Reece Period 1). Gaius and Lucius standing front, on left and right, each togate and resting hand on shield; behind each shield, a spear; above, on l., a simpulum to r. and on r., a lituus to l. Mint of Lugdunum. RIC I (rev.ed.), p.55, no.207.
About a third of the coin is missing revealing the copper alloy core.

An incomplete plated silver Roman denarius of unclear type, possibly of Tiberius (AD 14-37), dating to the period c.AD 14-37 (Reece period 1). Probably PONTIF MAXIM reverse type depicting a seated female figure right. Prototype of the mint of Lyon. This coin is a plated copy with the copper-alloy core clearly visible, seemingly perhaps also pierced in antiquity.
It has a diameter of 10.5mm with a thickness of 2.2mm, a length of 9.1mm with a width of 4.1mm and it weighs 1.02g.
