A silver denarius of Severus Alexander dating to the period AD 222 to 228. VICTORIA AVG reverse type depicting Victory advancing left. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, Pt II, p. 84, no. 180. The coin is incomplete although it is unclear whether the damage is deliberate or not. However, there are 4 semi-circular cut outs around the circumference of the coin. Two at 2 o'clock and two at 6 o'clock. These semi-circular cut outs are also known on other coins from the assemblage.
