An incomplete silver Roman denarius of Caracalla (AD 198-217), probably a contemporary copy, dating to the period c.AD 198-199 (Reece period 10). PONTIFEX TR P II reverse type depicting Caracalla standing left holding Victory on globe and reversed spear, captive on ground in front. Prototype of the mitn of Rome. This coin combines an obverse and reverse type from two different issues of Caracalla's coinage, cf. RIC IV.1 p. 216 no. 27 for the reverse type, with an obverse of the issue from AD 198-199 (RIC IV.1 nos. 18-23).
