An incomplete plated contemporary copy of a Roman denarius of Elagabalus (AD 218-222) dating to AD 218-222 (Reece Period 10). [SVMMVS SACERDOS AVG] reverse type depicting Elagabalus, in Syrian priestly robes, standing left, sacrificing out of patera in right hand over tripod, holding branch downwards in left hand; in field, star. Prototype probably Mint of Rome. Ref: RIC IV, pt 2, p. 38, cf. no. 146.
