The obverse depicts a right facing bust with a sqaure beard which projects away from the chest. The face of the bust is quite worn and there is XII behind the head, in the left of the field. The legend reads IACOBVS D G MAG: BRIT FRA ET HIB REX.
The reverse depicts a square garnished shield which has been quartered. The reverse legend reads QUAE DEVS CONIVN[XIT NEM]O SEPARET. The A and E of QUAE are ligated.

The obverse depicts a left facing crowned bust with a rose behind the head to the right. The obverse legend reads ELIZABETH D G ANG FR ET HIB REGINA. The initial mark is a pheon.
The reverse depicts a square shield divided by a long cross which also cuts the legend. In the top right and bottom left quarters of the shield and three rampant lions. In the other two quarters there are three fleur-de-lys. Above the shield is the number 1561 which is when the coin was struck. The reverse legend reads POSVI/ DEV.AD/IV…
