Early Medieval silver sceat, Series O, Type 40, (Man with two crosses/monster with one leg raised) probably contemporary imitation, c.710-750 AD, North 113. The obverse is struck badly off centre, the coin is light and the metal quality is poor. This supports interpretation as a contemporary imitation. Metcalf (1994 p 480-1) suggests those with the feet turning right and a diamond of four pellets between the beak and the back (both features present on this coin) are unofficial types.
