Complete silver half vintem (10 reis) of Joao III of Portugal (1502-1557) minted between 1538 and 1557. The obverse features a cross fleuretty and legend reading IOANES. I·I. R:P ET.:A:.O+. The reverse features 5 square shields with 5 pellets in each, legend reading the same as the obverse. The coin has been punctured between the 'P' and 'ET' on the obverse. Indicating possible reuse. The coin weighs 0.9g, and is 15.68mm in diameter.

Silver half vintem (10 reis) of Joao III of Portugal (1502-1557) minted between 1538 and 1557. The combination of obverse (four small shields in a cruciform pattern surrounding a central shield) and the reverse (a cross fleuretty) and the first four letters of the name IOAN[...] appear on the coins of John III of Portugal. Although the same designs of obverse and reverse appear on the coins of his predecessor, John II of Portugal, John II's name appears spelt as IOHANNES, whereas John III's name appears as IOANES, which appears to match the legend on this coin. A complete, worn and revalued post-Medieval Potuguese silver tostão probably of João III (1521-1557) or Sebastião I (1557-1578), counterstamped with the figure '120'. This was a revaluation of existing circulating coins in February 1642 under João IV ('O Restaurador', 1640-1656), by which the silver was increased by 20%. A large copper alloy coin. A ten-reis coin of John III of Portugal. It has the crowned shield of Portugal on the obverse ( a large shield with seven castles set around an inner shield.
