Object type: COIN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire

A copper hammered probable coin dating to the Post Medieval period, about 1597-1663: probably a Scottish twopence, or 'turner' of James VI (1567-1625), Charles I (1625-1649), or Charles II (1649-1685), and most likely one of the 1642, 1644, 1648 or 1650 issues of Charles I. However, it is only the size and form of the coin which suggests such an identification; it is illegible. It has a diameter of 17.77mm, a thickness of 0.93mm, and weighs 0.98g.
